Driving Rules Everyone Should Know But Doesn’t
When it comes to driving, there are all sorts of laws that need to be followed. In fact, there are probably some laws, or at the very least unwritten rules, that you don’t know about. Once you do know about them, however, you’ll certainly be sure to keep them in mind the next time you’re on the road. So, here are 3 driving rules just about everyone should know (but doesn’t) before getting on the road.
- It may be illegal to drive past a funeral procession: If you don’t know what the law is in your state regarding funeral processions, you could be caught by surprise and potentially get yourself into an accident. Now, not all states have a law against driving past a funeral procession, but many do, and our home state of North Carolina is one of them.
- Driving too slow can be just as bad as driving too fast: In most cases, everyone expects you to be driving at the speed limit or at least close to it. In fact, in some states like North Carolina, there are laws against it. In most, however, even if it isn’t technically illegal you can get yourself into trouble for it through other laws.
- Stop signs are for stopping: This seems like a basic one, but it’s a rule that gets broken all the time and can cause confusion. When drivers roll through stop signs or go when it is not their turn, it throws things off. The general rule is that you should come to a complete stop, and if it’s a 4-way stop, whoever reached the intersection first gets to go first.
